Rise of the Dark Tower
Maya – Zbrush – Vue - Phototshop – Nuke
This is a personal image I have been working on to for my portfolio and hopefully help me find a job in the film or game industry. It was inspired after Steven Kings “Gun Slinger” series.
I used Maya for modeling of the tower and terrain; the tower is constructed with simple geometry( cubes and cylinders). Most of the detail of the buildings comes from the texture maps and was not modeled, I used alpha mask to cut out the silhouette of the construction of the buildings. The cranes and scaffolding are planes with alpha mask. Zbrush was used to sculpted the terrain and to generate normal maps.
The roses in the for ground and mid ground are a Vue Ecosystem, I created the bird using a Maya particle system with the excellent help from a tutorial in the January issue of 3D world.
I render out several pass from Maya (beauty, depth, reflection, lights, id, highlights and shadow). All of this was then comped and color corrected using Nuke.
